Texas History Letterbox Series
"The Raven" letterbox commemorates Texas's greatest hero, Sam
Houston. Not only was he the hero of San Jacinto, Sam was twice
President of the Republic of Texas, a U.S. Senator for Texas,
Commander-in-chief of the Army of The Republic of Texas, and Governor
of Tennessee and Texas. He also continued friendly relations with
the Indians, obtaining his nickname from them, "The Raven".
Directions:
This letterbox can be found at the 67-foot statue of Sam Houston
along I-45 near Huntsville. From Houston, take I-45 North to exit
109, and follow the signs to the statue (you will see it!!)

Explore the Visitor Center first, then exit out the back breezeway.
